Old Stein Mart Could Become Temporary Home For Youth Theater Troupe

Mission Viejo City Council members will discuss allowing a youth theater group to operate in a portion of the old Stein Mart building.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Mission Viejo City Council members will gather to meet Tuesday for their regular meeting, where they will discuss a slew of business ranging from agreements with the Nadadores and a youth-oriented musical theater program.

In addition, Mission Viejo council members will recognize some outstanding athletes who won the 2023 USA Diving Junior Nationals at the Marguerite Aquatics Center.

  • Council members will recognize the Mission Viejo Nadadores after they won the Team Championship this summer at the 2023 USA Diving Junior Nationals at the Marguerite Aquatics Center. Divers from across the country competed in the prestigious event, and city council members will present Certificates of Commendation to the teammates who earned the distinction.
  • The council will also consider an amendment to the longtime Facilities Use Agreement between the city and Mission Viejo Nadadores Foundation for the use of the Marguerite Aquatics Center.
    • The proposed amendment was drafted to re-distribute and clarify the responsibilities of both parties.
  • The city will discuss the future of the Stein Mart building at 25280 Marguerite over the next 15 months. On Tuesday, the city will consider awarding an agreement to the theater group Bravo Players Guild for the temporary use of a portion of the building.
    • According to the city, Bravo Players Guild is a youth-oriented musical theater program for children ages 7-17.

Mission Viejo City Council members meet at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 200 Civic Center.
