Pedestrian, 64, Hit & Killed By SUV In Mission Viejo

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A 64-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by an SUV in Mission Viejo was identified Sunday by the Orange County coroner's office.

Mehrdad Mannani of San Juan Capistrano was stuck by the vehicle at about 7:35 a.m. July 26 on a Mission Viejo street, officials said.

Mannani died on the street about 13 minutes later, the coroner reported.

Officials did not say if Mannani was in a crosswalk when he was hit and it was not clear if the driver was cited.

The crash was being investigated by the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
