Sexual Abuse Allegedly Prompted Abduction of Congressman's Grandchildren

U.S. Rep. Gary Miller's grandchildren were being victimized by the congressman's son, says one family member.

Were Congressman Gary Miller's grandsons taken to Mexico to protect them from sexual abuse? That's what Jude Lopez told The Associated Press.

Lopez is the father of Jennifer DeJongh, the woman who after taking her children to Mexico nearly four years ago.

Lopez accused Brian Miller, son of Congressman Miller, of sexually molesting his children, including forcing the three children to lie naked on top of one another in a bed.

If there was sexual abuse, it will be tough to prove, said attorney Don Haslam, who represents Congressman Miller and his son Brian.

"These are the same arguments that (Dejongh) made during the course of the trial, and unfortunately from her point of view, nobody else who was involved in the case substantiated her allegations," Haslam said.
