Video: 5 Ways Mission Viejo Remains California's Safest City

How does Mission Viejo remain so safe? Again last year, the city was measured safest in California and third-safest, according to CQ Press, based on FBI statistics.

2. Motorcycle Cops: You may have noticed how many police are on motorcycles in Mission Viejo--this keeps people driving at safe speeds, Gavin said.

4. Parks and recreation: "One of the secrets of having a safe city is having things for kids to do." With about 40 parks in town, kids have areas to get out their youthful energy.
5. Graffiti removal: A city contractor removes graffiti within 24 hours of having it reported.
