Video: Witnesses Describe Alleged Police Beating of Homeless Man at Bus Stop
"He's almost halfway dead." That's how one witness described Kelly Thomas, a schizophrenic homeless man who died five days after a confrontation with Fullerton police.
A video appeared on YouTube Monday showing witnesses of the Kelly Thomas beating just minutes after Fullerton police confronted him.
Thomas, a homeless schizophrenic, died five days after the July 5 confrontation with police. He never regained consciousness.
Police say they were investigating the bus stop upon reports of vehicle burglaries. Witnesses and police say Thomas ran when approached by deputies.

The witnesses said police shocked Thomas about six times with Tasers.
"He ran away from them, and then they caught him, slammed his face, slammed his face against the curb," another witness says in the video.
The beating has prompted a District Attorney's Office investigation and multiple protests.
The video shows the bus driver asking witnesses to describe what they saw. He then radios the incident in to dispatchers. At the end he tells the witnesses their testimony is being recorded on the bus video.
The video was uploaded from an account called "FriendsofFullerton." The account has uploaded 169 videos, many involving Kelly Thomas. Another police confrontation was posted by the same account July 13.
