• 1 dead after head-on crash on Backus Road (kget.com) — A deadly head-on crash on Highway 14 near Backus Road, in the CHP Mojave area, left one driver dead at the scene Sunday night and another with serious injuries. Investigators say a southbound Malibu crossed the dirt median into northbound lanes for unknown reasons, and they’re asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Mojave CHP office.
