Buyers Disappear for Huge Monrovia-Made Spy Drone

A huge remote-operated, hyrogen-powered spy plane built by a Monrovia technology company isn't attracting any buyers.

The Global Observer drone, an Aerovironment project developed with funding from the Pentagon, isn't selling, according to a report in Wired.

"The Pentagon spent millions developing a humongous hydrogen-fueled drone that, it hoped, could fly at soaring altitudes for a week at a time," Wired reports. "Now the drone is all on its lonesome, because no one wants to buy it."

Aerovironment is capable of producing five of the drones per year if any orders come through but it is currently competing with other large drones made by Boeing and Northrop Grumman, according to Wired.
