Man Killed in Duarte Shooting

A motive for killing was unknown and the shooting suspect remained at large

A man seated in a car in Duarte was shot and killed Monday.

The shooting occurred about 5:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Lewiston Street, according to Deputy Sara Rodriguez.

The victim was sitting in the driver side of his vehicle when the gunman snuck up behind him and fired several rounds into the car, hitting the man, according to the sheriff’s department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said. The man’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The shooting suspect remained at large, according to Rodriguez. No suspect information was available.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. All tips can be made anonymously.
