Monrovia residents can get smart gardening tips at a free event Saturday.
The county-wide Smart Garden Program, along with the city of Monrovia, is inviting the public to attend the Smart Gardening Workshop.
Attendees will learn about backyard and worm composting, water and fire-wise gardening, and grass-cycling, according to the city's website.
The workshop is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Recreation Park, 620 S. Shamrock Ave.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own containers and shovels to take home free mulch, which will be provided as supplies last.
Bins for compost and works will be available for Monrovia residents to buy at a discounted price, according to the city.
