The program is open to people who work or live in the city and have purchased a new bicycle between July 1, 2021, and Sept. 30, 2021, city officials said. The reimbursements apply to bikes for adults and children, electric bikes and bicycle accessories.

The city is also holding weekly raffle drawings for $50 gift cards to local businesses for cyclists who register their bikes and track their activity, according to Monrovia.

The reimbursement program and raffle drawing are part of “GoMonrovia,” a program designed to encourage people in the city to take transportation alternatives to gasoline-powered cars. The alternative forms of transportation include riding a bicycle, taking public transportation and using ride-hailing services, officials said.
