CLU to Screen Local's Lincoln Movie

California Lutheran University will screen a one-man show about the nation's 16th president, aptly named Lincoln: the One-Man Show.

The two-hour film, which will screen tonight at 6 p.m., stars Camarillo resident Gary Saderup and touches on how Lincoln's views on politics, slavery and war formed and features highlights such as the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address. The film also covers his early years as a prairie lawyer, his marriage to Mary Todd and his folksy frontier humor.

The film, released on DVD in November, uses Civil War era photos, music and graphics to accompany Saderup's portrayal of Lincoln and others. The film was shot at Santa Paula High School.

Saderup and CLU history professor David Nelson will speak after the film.

The free screening will take place at the school's Preus-Brandt Forum, located south of Olsen Road between Mountclef Boulevard and Campus Drive. The campus address is 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.
