Flooded Roadways Expected In Moorpark As NWS Issues Flood Advisory
Low-lying areas and roadways in Moorpark are expected to be flooded Wednesday afternoon, forecasters said.
MOORPARK, CA — As ongoing rain floods the streets in some parts of the Southland Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Moorpark that's in effect until 4 p.m.
The advisory is a more severe warning than the flood watch that was issued Tuesday for the entirety of LA County. Wednesday's advisory covers central Ventura County and the far southwestern portion of Los Angeles County.
That includes Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Malibu, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Malibu Creek State Park and Point Dume, the NWS said.

Communities in that area have already seen flooding in roadways, and officials have warned that residents should expect minor flooding in low-lying areas and those with poor drainage.
In the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday are 2 to 4 inches of rain. South-facing foothill areas and coastal slopes — the areas covered by the flood advisory — could see up to 8 inches of rain, the NWS said.

Low-lying areas, roads and creeks and streams are at risk of flooding. Flash floods and debris flows could impact recent burn scars.
"There will be the strong potential for rock and mudslide activity, especially on canyon and mountain roadways. Flooding and rock/mudslide activity may lead to significant travel delays and road closures. Increased flow in rivers and streams will bring an increased threat for swiftwater rescues," the NWS said.
The precipitation is expected to stop by Friday.
Sandbags are available to homeowners for flood control at both Los Angeles County and Los Angeles city fire stations.
