Miller YMCA Winter Flag Football League Signups Underway

Signups are underway for the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park’s winter flag football league. A sign up day and skills assessment will be held Saturday, October 15 at Pepper Tree Park (3720 Old Conejo Rd., Newbury Park). The season begins Saturday, December 3 and is open to kids in kindergarten through eighth grade in Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks.

The co-ed league is divided into four grade divisions: kindergarten/first grade, second/third grades, fourth/fifth grades and sixth through eighth grades. Players will learn to pass, run and create plays. In this non-contact league, players stop opponents by pulling off one of their flags around their waist. The semi-competitive, league develops athletic, sportsmanship and teamwork skills while kids have fun and make new friends. No prior playing experience is necessary.

The cost is $125 (YMCA members) and $180 (nonmembers) plus a $50 refundable helmet deposit). League fees include a uniform, trophy and team picture.

The October 15 sign up and skill assessment schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., kindergarten through second grade, 10:00 am. to 11:00 a.m., third through fifth grade and 11:00 a.m. to noon, sixth through eighth grade.
