Miss Moorpark Pageant to Host Orientation

The Miss and Mr. Moorpark pageants will be here soon and it's time for those interested in competing to sign up.

The pageant, which will also include a Miss and Teen Simi Valley and Miss and Teen Twin Counties—open to young women who work, go to schoool or live in Ventura or Los Angeles counties—will take place May 25 at Moorpark High School.

Contestants are juded on their community service, academics, a private interview, talent, an on-stage question and poise in evening wear.

Cost to enter the competition is $225, $25 of which is a non-refundable application fee due by the time of orientation. The other $200 is a sponsor fee, which can be broken up amongst multiple sponsors.

Orientation for the event will be at 6:30 p.m. April 3 at Community Christian Church, 216 Moorpark Ave.

Last year's competition saw 57 contestants vying for the seven titles and more than $12,000 in scholarships was awarded.
