• Powerball ticket worth $812,200 sold at Moorpark ARCO/AMPM (nbclosangeles.com) — A Powerball ticket sold at the ARCO/AMPM at 50 W. Los Angeles Ave. and South Moorpark Avenue is worth $812,200, and the winner hasn’t been identified yet. The ticket matched five numbers in the Jan. 11 drawing, just missing the Powerball. With no jackpot winner, the next drawing’s prize has climbed well over $100 million.
   

• Santa Barbara Metrolink proposal scrapped; Pacific Surfliner to provide new train service instead - Santa Barbara News Press (newspress.com) — A long-discussed plan for a Metrolink commuter train starting in Moorpark and running to Santa Barbara and Goleta has been dropped after contract delays and railroad ownership issues. Instead, the LOSSAN agency will use an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train for new morning service as early as April 2026, which officials say should be cheaper and easier to operate while still helping ease Highway 101 traffic.
