Emmy-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest last week on child sex abuse charges.

Busfield, known for his roles on "The West Wing" and "Field of Dreams," had a warrant issued for his arrest on Friday on two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.

Busfield was being booked by Albuquerque police on the charges, said Gilbert Gallegos, spokesperson for the city police department.

The charges are connected to an investigation into allegations that Busfield inappropriately touched two young twin actors on the New Mexico set of the Fox TV series “The Cleaning Lady” that he was directing.

According to a police affidavit posted by Variety, the boys' mother told police that her children disclosed to her that they were "groomed and sexually abused" by Busfield while filming the Fox series "The Cleaning Lady" from November 2022 to spring 2024 in New Mexico.

One of the boys told an investigator that Busfield touched his "private areas" on set when he was 7 years old and again when he was 8, according to Variety.

The boy's twin brother told authorities he was touched by Busfield but did not specify where. He said he didn't say anything because he didn't want to get in trouble.

Busfield denied the allegations last fall when interviewed by authorities as part of the investigation, the complaint said. He suggested that the boys' mother was seeking revenge for her children being replaced on the series. He also said he likely would have picked up and tickled the boys, saying the set was a playful environment.

A video obtained by TMZ shows Busfield in front of a window with the Albuquerque skyline in the backdrop. After getting a lawyer, he said he drove 2,000 miles to New Mexico on Saturday after the warrant was issued.

"I'm going to confront these lies. They're horrible. They're all lies," he said in the video. "I did not do anything to those little boys."

Additionally, the affidavit describes an investigation conducted by Warner Bros. Following an anonymous complaint made through SAG-AFTRA, the actors' union, about Busfield's conduct on "The Cleaning Lady."

Busfield was accused of kissing a "minor male" who was getting a haircut on set. The complaint also claimed there are pictures of Busfield "tickling and caressing the head and body of minor boys," according to the affidavit.
