Lawsuit Filed After Young Father Dies At Sea (canyon-news.com) — A Moreno Valley family is suing Royal Caribbean after 35-year-old resident Michael Virgil died aboard the Navigator cruise ship following what the lawsuit describes as extreme intoxication and aggressive restraint by ship security. The complaint alleges he was overserved alcohol, violently subdued, and later ruled a homicide victim by the medical examiner, leaving his fiancée and young child seeking accountability for his death.

2. Community Mourns Father Who Died Saving 7-Year-Old Son On Lake Perris (patch.com) — A Corona father who saved his 7-year-old son after their kayak capsized at Lake Perris later died at Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. State parks officials say he kept his son afloat until rescuers arrived, and relatives are remembering him as a devoted dad and husband. A GoFundMe has been launched to help his family with expenses.
3. Warehouse moratorium OK'd in Perris (pressenterprise.com) — Moreno Valley is cited as one of the Inland Empire’s most warehouse-saturated cities, as nearby Perris has just enacted a 45-day halt on new warehouse approvals. Perris leaders say they’ll use the pause to study impacts and possibly tighten rules, while unions and environmental advocates clash over jobs, pollution, and traffic from the booming logistics industry.
4. California's Latest Climate Gambit: Turn Air Conditioners Into Heat Pumps (heatmap.news subscription) — Moreno Valley is leading California in a new building-code change that strongly steers homeowners toward installing heat pumps instead of traditional air conditioners, making the city the first to adopt the AC2HP rule. The policy could affect how local residents replace or upgrade home cooling and heating systems, with supporters touting climate benefits and some residents voicing cost and technology concerns. Other cities across the state are now following Moreno Valley’s example.
