13-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies In Crash With Truck In Mountain View

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — A 13-year-old bicyclist was killed in a collision with a truck on El Camino Real in Mountain View on Thursday morning, according to the Mountain View Police Department.
The major injury collision at the intersection of El Camino Real and Highway 237 happened around 8:15 a.m. The teenage boy was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. Speed, drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to police.

Several lanes were closed during the day Thursday as police conducted an investigation. The city of Mountain View also added in a news release that it would work with Caltrans — which operates El Camino Real — on whether any changes are needed for the plan to add bike lanes and pedestrian improvements to the road.
