Alamo Drafthouse Eyes Summer Opening For New South Bay Theaters

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will triple its Bay Area presence next year with the addition of two locations in the South Bay.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Alamo Drafthouse will expand its Bay Area footprint next year, bringing the beloved movie theater chain to two South Bay cities.

Known for its food and drink service and strict policies against talking or texting during screenings, the Austin-based company this week confirmed plans to open locations in Mountain View and Santa Clara by next summer.

According to Alamo's website, Westfield Valley Fair will be home to the Santa Clara theater, and The Village at San Antonio Center will play host in Mountain View. KRON 4 reports the Santa Clara theater will have 10 auditoriums with 1,500 luxury recliners, while Mountain View will have 10 auditoriums with 1,100 seats. Both are slated to open in the summer, replacing ShowPlace ICON theatres.
