Council's Tuesday Agenda: Community Shuttle, Burrowing Owls and Caltrain

There's a pretty meaty agenda on the city council docket this Tuesday with items of interest to most residents of Mountain View.

Councilmembers will listen to staff on a potential community shuttle program and will give them direction on how to proceed. Staff conducted a survey of the community and 248 people responded. They will reveal their results and so far conclude "answers have not yielded definitive answers regarding the demand for, and/or viability of, community shuttle services in Mountain View."

Council will hear possible suggestions on the relocation and cost estimates for the historical 1,100 square foot Pearson and 400 square foot Immigrant Houses. Also, once moved, what could be a potential use. Six potential locations have been identified and will be discussed.

Under new business, the council considers the final adoption of the Shoreline Burrowing Owl Preservation Plan, which includes the management and protection of approximately 300 acres of protected habitat in Shoreline Park to facilitate the nesting of ten pairs of owls for breeding.

Afterward, Caltrain staff will update the city on the commuter rail service's modernization program, which includes electrification, and other upgrades in performance and efficiency—all scheduled to be complete by 2019.
