Dyson Vacuum Recovered from Target Burglary
Arrests could be part of larger retail theft ring.

The identities of three San Jose men arrested for burglary in Mountain View Tuesday have been released.
Joe Robert Martinez, 50, was booked into main jail along with 45-year-old Daniel Joseph Nuñez and 32-year-old Rickey Jerome Martigue for an alleged crime at the Target, 555 Showers Drive.
According to Mountain View Police Department spokesman Sgt. Sean Thompson, Martinez walked into the Target and a loss prevention security guard connected his face to other alleged thefts at the store. Security notices that Martinez walked out several times without any items and walked over to a black Mercedes Benz parked in the lot.
Once back in the store, Martinez loaded up a shopping cart with a few items and exited out a rear emergency door. At this point around 9:31 p.m., Target security calls the police.
Thompson then explained that Martinez found himself trapped in the back area, which didn't have an egress to the street. Martinez reenters the store without the cart and walks out the front.
When the MVPD arrived, security pointed Martinez out on the surveillance tapes and other police officers set-up in a perimeter located and arrested the suspect at the bus stop outside of Walmart for grand theft, burglary, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
in addition to burglary, Nuñez and Martigue—who were in the Black Mercedes—went to jail for conspiracy. Nuñez was also booked for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Martigue was also booked for theft with prior and violating a parole hold.
Among the items recovered were a $599 Dyson vacuum, a $139 Sony DVD player, unspecified items of clothing worth about $25.98 and an ME handbag worth $32.00.
"Through the investigation we are going to see if these men are connect to other thefts," Thompson explained about the possibility of this crime being part of a larger retail theft ring.
Acting Lieutenant Mike Fisher investigates crimes of retail theft for the MVPD and is a member of the Bay Area Organized Retail Crime Association. He shared a recent article with Patch from the National Retail Association which showed that the Bay Area was in the top ten regions of the country with the highest levels of retail crime.
