​Family Sent To Hospital After Apartment Fire In Mountain View

Residents of the building were found temporary housing with the help of the Red Cross and apartment management.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — An apartment complex fire early Sunday morning in Mountain View sent a family to the hospital and displaced others, according to the city.

Firefighters responded around 4:30 a.m. to the 600 block of Leksich Avenue after flames were seen coming from the back of a two-story, four-unit complex.

Crews from the Mountain View and Palo Alto fire departments tackled the blaze by cutting open walls and ceilings to ensure complete extinguishment, a spokesperson for the city said.

According to witnesses, surveillance footage and a preliminary investigation, the fire began in a first-floor laundry room. Damages are estimated to be at $500,000.

Traffic was shut down on Leksich Avenue while fire units were on the scene.

All occupants of the complex evacuated before fire crews arrived, but a family of four was evaluated for smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
