Google Play Antitrust Case Settled For $40 Million With Match: Reports

Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, is still a plaintiff in the case tied to accusations of an illegal monopoly on Android app distribution.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Google’s parent company, Alphabet, reached a settlement with the dating app company Match Group, marking the latest in a series of developments regarding antitrust allegations surrounding the Google Play store, according to reports.

The Mountain View-based search giant will pay Match $40 million and give the company better conditions on Google Play, Bloomberg reported. Google in August settled related claims with state attorneys general and consumers, according to Bloomberg.

Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, remains a plaintiff in the case tied to allegations of an illegal monopoly on Android app distribution, according to Reuters, which noted that Google has denied the claims. The companies are set to go to trial in early November, Reuters reported.
