Mountain View Stages Chat With Jose Vargas

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — The tables have turned for Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, Jose Antonio Vargas.

The man who has spent a career on the other side of the interview table will be questioned live on May 13 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

Michael Jones, principal of the soon-to-open Jose Antonio Vargas Elementary School, will lead a chat on stage. The interview will be followed by a question-and-answer session from the audience.

Vargas, who is a graduate of Mountain View High School, is a prominent voice and advocate for immigrant rights. He's the author of the bestselling memoir "Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen." His nonprofit organization, Define American, uses storytelling, media outreach and advocacy to fight anti-immigration policies and change people’s minds about what it means to be a patriotic American and an immigrant.

In Conversation with Jose Antonio Vargas is a free and inspiring event open to the public. Vargas’ memoir will be available for sale and signing in the lobby.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event, which is made possible by the nonprofit Friends of the Mountain View Library as well as the library.
