The Mtn. View man who died crossing Highway 101 at Rengstorff Ave. is remembered as an accomplished musician.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- A 21-year-old man hit and killed on U.S. Highway 101 in Mountain View on Sunday has been identified as Trevor Tangerose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Tangerose was likely homeless and lived in the area of Highway 101 and Rengstorff Avenue where the fatal crash happened, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was trying to cross northbound lanes of the highway on foot at about 7 p.m. when he was hit by a white Subaru driving at about 65 mph.

Tangerose was taken to Stanford Hospital, where he died a short time later. The Subaru driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. Tangerose played music and had been hitchhiking across the country for the last few months before stopping in the Bay Area, according to his Facebook profile.
