BREAKING: The fatal incident Wednesday evening halted Caltrain service in both directions.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Caltrain passengers experienced delays of up to 40 minutes Wednesday night after a person was fatally struck along the tracks in Mountain View. The incident, which occurred around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday along the northbound tracks near Rengstorff Avenue and Central Expressway, marks Caltrain's first fatality of 2018, Caltrain officials said.
The incident initially halted service in both directions in the immediate area, but trains were single-tracking along the southbound tracks with speed restrictions of 15 mph.
About 300 people were on board the train at the time. No one on board was injured, according to Caltrain officials.
