UPDATE: DMT, Meth and Marijuana found in 4 Mountain View Apartments; Police Confirm 2 Arrests

Police call it a DMT lab, a powerful natural root-based hallucinogen that can be synthesized in a lab.

Two people have been arrested and unknown quantities of several narcotics found in Mountain View, law enforcement officials reported Thursday afternoon.

Police Department spokesman Sgt. Sean Thompson told reporters that search warrants had been executed in a total of four apartment units in two buildings—228 and 242 Bush St.—for crimes related to possession of weapons, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana, and for the manufacturing of dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a natural root-based hallucinogen that can be synthesized in a lab.

The names of those arrested have not been released. Three more remain in custody.

According to Thompson, neighbors had called police in the past about potential drug activity. The MVPD began to investigate and were able to get search warrants.

DMT is derived from plants that can be snorted and injected, and it’s a fast-acting psychedelic drug.

Police sources believe it was being sold and manufactured on the premises.

This lab could be the third case of a DMT bust in the state of California and the first in the Bay Area that has been busted, according to Thompson.

Police said that authorities will also be working to clear hazardous materials from the DMT lab. DMT is classified as a Schedule I substance by the federal government.
