MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Police on patrol in the downtown area Friday arrested a man after spotting him looking into cars and checking to see if door handles were unlocked.

At 10:50 p.m., officers noticed a man pull into a parking space, get out of his car and crawl around parked vehicles in the structure located on the 800 block of California Street. While the man was crouched low to the ground, officers saw him look into windows and try door handles to see if anyone had left their vehicle unlocked.

Officers approached the man, identified as 28-year-old Modesto resident Rafael Alejandro Rodriguez Trinidad, and took him into custody. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for prowling and tampering with a motor vehicle.
