Teachers Ride Caltrain in Favor of Prop 30 and Against Prop 32 Monday

Vowing to 'put California back on track,' Bay Area teachers engage in a full day media blitz from San Francisco to San Jose with a mid-afternoon stop in Mountain View.

Are you onboard with Prop 30 and 32?

If you aren't, teachers in the Bay Area—including from Mountain View—hope to encourage voters to check off 'yes' on Prop 30 and 'no' on Prop 32 this on Nov. 6 as they ride Caltrain Monday to 'put California back on track.'

After school lets out they'll hop on Caltrain No. 258 in San Francisco at 3:37 p.m. and stop at stations in San Bruno, San Mateo, San Carlos, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale to arrive in San Jose by 5 p.m.

"With Election Day almost here, teachers are riding the rails to share their messages about why passing Prop. 30 to prevent billions in cuts to our public schools is so vital," said Eric Heins, vice president of the 325,000-member California Teachers Association (CTA) and an East Bay teacher, who will be on the train. "And educators will not be able to advocate with a strong political voice if Prop. 32 passes and that voice is silenced by the millionaires and billionaires behind this attack on the middle class."

Proposition 30 would create temporary funding for California school and public safety; while Proposition 32 would prohibit payroll contribution to political campaigns and candidates.
