3 Fires Ignite In Murrieta Overnight, All Under Investigation

Murrieta Fire & Rescue firefighters battled three separate blazes across town early Thursday morning. Here's what happened.

MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta Fire & Rescue, with resource support from Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department and the Murrieta Police Department, responded overnight to three separate and unrelated structure fires.

These were three unrelated incidents, according to department spokesperson Dawn Morrison.

The first incident occurred just before midnight on Cholla Court. The fire involved a wall and attic of a home currently under renovation, she said.

Just before 2 a.m., Murrieta fire crews were dispatched to a large detached shop fire on Bay Meadows Way. The shop, located on a residential property, sustained significant damage. Firefighters successfully protected the adjacent residence, and no residents were displaced.

Just after 2 a.m., a fire broke out on Corte Albara in The Colony. That blaze was contained to a garage, according to Morrison.

"One person sustained minor injuries and self-transported to a local hospital, and no residents were displaced," she said.

The causes of all three fires remain under investigation.

Further details will be released as they become available, but they were not believed to be related, according to Morrison.

"The occurrence of three separate structure fires within a short period is not necessarily a regular event, but it's also not unheard of. Each fire incident is unique, and our investigators thoroughly examine each scene to determine the cause," she said. "It's crucial to avoid speculation until these investigations are complete.

"Murrieta Fire & Rescue is committed to ensuring our community's safety and is actively working to understand the circumstances surrounding these three separate and unrelated fire incidents. Should our investigations reveal a need to reinforce fire safety practices within the community, we will launch a public education campaign. This outreach will include community engagement initiatives and targeted messaging across our social media platforms."
