Here's Where 29 Of CA's Most Populated Cities Rank In Safety: Report

Nationwide, 182 of the nation's most populated cities were analyzed. Twenty-nine were in the Golden State.

CALIFORNIA — Irvine ranks No. 11, Chula Vista lands at No. 23, Fremont at No. 24 and Glendale at No. 25 in a new safety analysis of the nation's most populated cities. The Oct. 7 report comes from the personal finance website WalletHub.

The study didn't consider only crime when weighing which cities are the safest.

"Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from public health crises and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents," according to WalletHub, which looked at 41 safety indicators to compile its ranking.

The top five overall safest cities in the U.S., according to the study, are:

  1. South Burlington, Vermont
  2. Casper, Wyoming
  3. Warwick, Rhode Island
  4. Burlington, Vermont
  5. Boise, Idaho

The bottom five cities included Memphis, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans.
