RivCo Sheriff's Department Arrests Suspect In 'Traumatic Stabbing'

A 36-year-old Good Hope man is behind bars Monday after allegedly stabbing another man, authorities say.

GOOD HOPE, CA — A 36-year-old Good Hope man is in custody Monday after allegedly stabbing another man, authorities said.

Salvador Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and he is currently being held at Murrieta's Southwest Detention Center on $1 million bail, according to jail records.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff's Station responded at 7:45 a.m. Sunday to the 21000 block of Mountain Avenue following a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Deputies found a man with "traumatic stab wounds" and secured the scene before turning the case over to investigators, the department said in a statement.

The injured man was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition as of Monday morning, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators identified the suspect as Salvador Ortiz, who was found at the scene and taken into custody, according to the RCSD.

Ortiz was slated to appear in court on Wednesday morning to answer felony charges of attempted murder.
