RivCo's Emergency Responders Express Condolences On SB Deputy's Death
Police, sheriff, and fire officials across the Inland Empire are paying tribute to Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr., who died Monday.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr., 36, died in a crash amid a high speed pursuit in Victorville, Monday. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department shared the news, following notification of next of kin.
One day later, police, fire and sheriff's departments from across the southland expressed their support and solidarity amid the news of Cuevas's death.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department shared their thoughts and support in the loss of Deputy Cuevas.

"RSO sends our heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office on the loss of Deputy Hector Cuevas, who tragically passed away in the line of duty today, March 17, 2025. We stand with you during this difficult time."
Hemet Police Department weighed in with words of support.

"Sending our thoughts and prayers to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, as well as the friends and family of the fallen deputy.We ask our community to please keep them in your thoughts," they wrote on social media.
The Murrieta Police Department shared their thoughts on social media.
"It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of San Bernardino Sheriff Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr.Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire law enforcement community during this incredibly difficult time. Deputy Cuevas dedicated his life to protecting and serving others, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in the outpouring of support from all who knew him. Thank you, Deputy Cuevas, for your unwavering service."
Riverside Police added their support on social media.
"Our hearts go out to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the family of Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. His service, sacrifice, and dedication to his community will never be forgotten. We stand with you in this time of sorrow."
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department also shared their condolences.
"Our deepest condolences to his family, blood and blue. Our heartfelt prayers are with you all. Rest in Peace, Deputy Cuevas."
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department shared the grim news Monday afternoon, as they grappled with the loss of one of their own.
"With profound sadness, we mourn the loss of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr., who tragically passed away in the line of duty on March 17, 2025.
"Deputy Cuevas dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community with honor, courage, and selflessness. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
"Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow deputies during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the support of those around them and strength in knowing that Deputy Cuevas’ service and dedication will always be honored.
"Rest in peace, Deputy Cuevas. Your watch has ended, but you will remain in our hearts forever."
The crash occurred amid a pursuit of 22-year-old Ryan Dwayne Turner, Jr. of San Bernardino, according to the sheriff's department.
