Semi Crash On I-15 In Murrieta Prompts Brief Closures

UPDATED: Multiple lanes were closed as a result of the crash.

MURRIETA, CA — A crash on Interstate 15 in the Murrieta area Monday morning prompted some delays in the region, the California Highway Patrol reported. The crash happened on the northbound side of the freeway, near the I-15/I-215 split, around 11:40 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate a white Mustang and a semi truck collided. The wreckage was blocking the number two and three lanes and fuel was leaking onto the roadway.

It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hurt.

A major backup was reported on the 15 as a result of the collision. A sig alert was issued at 12:10 p.m. However, but 2 p.m., the alert had been lifted.
