MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta Valley High School alumni Tyler Wade is settling in at the 2025 San Diego Padres spring training.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said that Wade brings "a lot on the field from a culture standpoint, energy standpoint."

According to a recent report in the Union Tribune, he's found his home in San Diego. Much is owed to the team chemistry fostered by Schildt, he said.

“We kind of had talks about it in the year, and just as the year went on, it progressed,” Wade told reporters. “Shildty just really reiterating how much I mean to this club and this organization, dude, that means the world to me. Having someone like him and Manny and Bogey telling me how much I mean to this team, it goes a long way. And when we got (the contract done) I was so happy.”

Wade started 17 times in 2024, and appeared in 61 games, according to the report. He desires to be an everyday player, and it shows, working daily with the coaches, arriving early before every game.

"I want to make sure whenever I am on the field, we all have that same chemistry, and no one skips a beat. I think that’s very important. If you look at all the winning teams … they have guys like myself that are good clubhouse guys that get plugged in wherever and you don’t have to worry about them."
