Three Youths Injured When Car Plunges Into Napa River

Police say a groups of kids drove through a roadblock and accidentally plunged into the Napa River because they didn't know the road ended.

NAPA, CA -- Three youths suffered minor injuries after the car they were in accidentally plunged into the Napa River over the weekend, police say.

The car went into the river at the end of River Park Boulevard early on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 26 after one of the youths took their parents car and drove through a roadblock and into the river because the youth didn't know the road ended, according to police.

The youths sustained their injuries when they climbed through a shattered window in the vehicle, police said. None of the kids' identities have been identified by police due to their ages.

At low tide, officers narrowed down where the car was and located parts of it. The car was found about 40 feet from shore in about 20 feet of water. Authorities say fishermen helped locate the vehicle by using their fishing poles to snag it.

A tow truck driver later pulled the car from the river, police said.
