Arrest Made In Napa Shooting That Injured Bystander: Police
A verbal altercation between two men escalated and the suspect fired a gun in the other man's direction but struck a bystander, police said.
NAPA, CA β Napa police announced an arrest in connection with a shooting last week that left one person injured.
Officers with the Napa Police Department responded at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27 to a shooting reported at a residence in the 2500 block of Laurel Street and immediately found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers provided first aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived, Napa police Lt. Veronica Rodrigues said in a news release issued Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Witnesses told police the shooting was precipitated by two males engaged in a verbal altercation.
"During the altercation, one of the males brandished a firearm and fired in the direction of the other male," Rodrigues said. "Tragically, the gunfire struck the victim who was an uninvolved bystander."

The victim was taken to a local trauma hospital and was expected to survive, according to police.
Meanwhile, detectives from Napa PD's Special Enforcement Unit quickly developed leads, identified a suspect, and got a warrant for the suspectβs arrest.
On Friday, Dec. 30, SEU detectives found and arrested the suspect in the city of Napa. The suspect, a 22-year-old Napa resident, was booked at the Napa County Detention Center on suspicion of
attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.
Police did not release the suspect's name.
