He remained in custody Monday night, jail records showed.
Mckenzie has a record dating back to 2016 when he was arrested in Southern California in connection with smash-and-grab burglaries at two Benicia convenience stores. At the time, Napa police detectives helped identify him as a suspect in the Benicia burglaries. Video surveillance was instrumental in his arrest and detectives alleged Mckenzie was found in possession of a shirt worn in the break-ins.
In December 2022, he was sentenced to two years of formal probation for a second-degree burglary conviction. Court records showed that in September, supervision of his probation was transferred from Contra Costa County to Napa County.
