Child's Body Found In Napa County In Oakland Homicide Investigation

Homicide investigators with the Oakland Police Department found the toddler's body in a rural part of Napa County.

NAPA COUNTY, CA β€” The body of a 2-year-old was found in rural Napa County and the child's death is being investigated as a homicide by the Oakland Police Department.

Oakland PD said it was notified just before 2:30 a.m. Dec. 23 by the San Pablo Police Department of a possible homicide of a 2-year-old child.

Oakland homicide investigators responded and assumed the investigation.

"The preliminary investigation shows the child’s death occurred in Oakland," Oakland police Officer Darryl Rodgers said Thursday in a statement emailed to Patch. "However, the two-year-old child's body was located in a rural area of Napa County."

As of Thursday morning, a person connected to the child’s death had been identified and arrested with the assistance of San Pablo police, Rodgers said.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death remained under investigation.

Police did not say where in Napa County the child's body was found.
