City Of Napa To Close Napa River Bypass Flood Gates

NAPA, CA β Based on current forecasts, the Napa County Flood District and City of Napa are planning to close the flood gates located on McKinstry Street Wednesday, January 4th, by 5pm.
The Oxbow Bypass was designed as part of the Napa Flood Control Project to convey heavy storm flows for the Napa River and reduce the flooding risk for the community. The floodgates crossing McKinstry Street are closed when the river is projected to overflow into the Oxbow Bypass area.

The forecast from the National Weather Service projects water may enter the Oxbow Bypass on the morning Thursday, January 5th. The Oxbow Commons Park and on-street parking along McKinstry Street will closed beginning Wednesday at 1 pm to prepare for closing the flood gates. With more storms on the way, the flood gates may remain closed through the weekend.
Staff will continue to monitor the forecasts.
