NAPA, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified Javier Hernandez Morales as the man who died when he shot at sheriff's Deputy Riley Jarecki from his vehicle Sunday night in Napa.

The sheriff's office also released the deputy's body camera video of the shooting. It shows Jarecki standing outside the driver's door telling Morales in the driver's seat to roll down his window. Morales complies but then shoots at Jarecki, who immediately fires back.

Morales died at the scene, and Jarecki was not injured. Sheriff's officials said the shooting at the deputy was attempted murder, and Jarecki has been placed on administrative leave.
