Jobless Rate Drops in Napa
Unemployment in Napa County is at its lowest point in more than two years.

The unemployment plummeted in the Napa Valley last month, led by a surge in transportation and entertainment-related jobs.
The jobless rate in Napa County decreased from 6.8 percent in March to 5.9 percent in April. A year ago, the rate was 8.1 percent, according to the state Economic Development Department.
The unemployment rate for the state also fell from 9.4 percent in March to 8.5 in April.

In Napa, the jobless rate fell to 6.2 percent. It was 7 percent in March.
Nearby, the unemployment rate decreased to 9.6 percent in American Canyon, 4.7 percent in Calistoga, 6.4 percent in St. Helena and 4.3 percent in Yountville.
Overall, the Napa Valley added 1,300 jobs in April for a total labor force of 69,100. That jobs figure is 6.1 percent higher than April 2012.
Trade, transportation and utilities in Napa County gained 300 jobs in April while the leisure and hospitality industry added 200 jobs and the professional and business services sector increased by 200 jobs.
