Napa County To Transition To Online Building Permit Applications Effective Jan. 1

NAPA COUNTY, CA —Napa County announced that all building permit applications will be available exclusively online through the County’s Online Permit Center (OPC) effective January 1, 2024.

This transition to online permit applications aims to enhance efficiency, accessibility and convenience for residents and businesses throughout Napa County. The Online Permit Center will be the central hub for applying for permits, checking the status of applications, making fee payments, and scheduling inspections.
"Napa County is steadfast in its commitment to delivering efficient and accessible services to our valued residents and businesses,” said Brian Bordona, Director of Building, Planning, and Environmental Services. “The move to online permit applications represents a substantial stride in our ongoing efforts to achieve this goal. By embracing digital innovation and streamlining our permitting process, we hope to make it easier than ever for our community to access the services they need while enhancing overall convenience and efficiency."

Residents and business owners are encouraged to visit the Napa County website to review the details for specific departments and divisions offering online permit services. Highlights include:
- Building Division: Effective January 1, 2024, all Building Permit Applications will be processed exclusively through the Online Permit Center. Step-by-step instructions for the Building Permit Process can be found on the County's website.
- Environmental Services: Site Evaluation, Soil Borings, and Water Wells Permit Applications can now be submitted digitally through the Online Permit Center. Sewage Systems permit applications will also be available soon.
- Planning & Conservation Division: The division currently offers scheduling for virtual or in-office pre-application meetings for large projects, such as winery development, through the Online Permit Center. Note that Site Visit pre-application meeting requests are not yet available through the OPC. For further assistance, please contact Planning, Building, and Environmental Services at 707-253-4417.
To utilize the Online Permit Center, individuals must register for an OPC user account. Registration can be completed at the Online Permit Center website. Detailed instructions on how to register for an Online Permit Center User Account are available on the County's website.
