Napa Police, Sheriff To Host National Night Out

The community is invited to gather for the family-friendly, free event that promises food, games and more.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — The Napa Police Department and Napa Valley College are hosting National Night Out this Tuesday.

The free, family-friendly event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at Napa Valley College, 2277 Napa Vallejo Highway, Napa.

National Night Out is an opportunity for families and friends to meet with members of the Napa Police Department, Napa County Sheriff's Office and other local agencies in a casual setting. According to the event flier, guests will enjoy "games, food, candy, ice cream, cold drinks and great conversations."

Since 1984, National Night Out has been held annually on the first Tuesday of August. To date, some 17,000 communities across the United States have signed on for the event. In California, Napa is one of 365 participating cities.

"The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings," said Kay Bailey Hutchison, a former U.S. senator. "National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities."
