Authorities ID Pedestrian Killed On Highway 29 In Napa

The death was reported to the CHP at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday.

NAPA, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified the pedestrian who died after he was struck by a vehicle in Napa Wednesday evening as Brian Sean Greggi, 51, of Napa. Napa police said Greggi was not in a marked crosswalk when he walked east across state Highway 29 at Trower Avenue and was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Highway 29.

Greggi was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:27 p.m., sheriff's office spokesman Henry Wofford said.

The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the collision investigation, Napa police said.

Police are investigating whether Greggi consumed alcohol or drugs, Sgt. Kristofer Jenny said.

The collision closed Trower Avenue in both directions for about four hours, and northbound traffic on Highway 29 was diverted onto Trancas Street, police said.

ORIGINAL POST: A pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening on northbound state Highway 29 in Napa, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.

The death was reported to the CHP at 6:25 p.m. at Trower Avenue.

Northbound Highway 29 at Trower Avenue was closed and a Sig-alert had been issued at 6:37 p.m.

CHP officials said they don't have an estimate for when northbound Highway 29 will reopen.
