Road Closures Lifted, Water Main Break Repaired In St. Helena

UPDATED: City officials initially responded to a report of a possible sinkhole and found a large water main break.

ST. HELENA, CA β€” UPDATED: A large water main break in St. Helena has been repaired, Pope Street at College Avenue was reopened to all traffic, and water has been restored to all customers, the St. Helena Police Department said shortly before 10 a.m. Friday.


PREVIOUS UPDATE: A large water main break was discovered Thursday night on Pope Street in St. Helena when personnel with the St. Helena Police, Fire and Public Works responded to a possible sinkhole, police said in an update.

Pope Street was closed at College Avenue as Public Works crews worked to repair the water main, St. Helena police said at 7 p.m. Thursday.

"Traffic Control is being enforced," police said. "Do not attempt to cross the barricades."

Police encouraged the public to avoid the area.
