Pot Ordinance Repeal, New Fitness Club on Tap at Napa Planning Commission

Meeting is 7 p.m. today at Napa City Hall.

Instead of trick or treating, Napa Planning Commission will consider a full agenda at its Halloween night meeting at 7 p.m. today at Napa City Hall.

Among the items under consideration are the repeal of the city's medical marijuana ordinance -- an item postponed a few weeks ago amid changes at the federal level.

Napa Valley Patch previously covered the medical pot issue when it was heard in City Council on Aug. 20. After much debate, council members voted 4-1 to repeal the ordinance.

Tonight's measure, if approved, would begin the official process to amend the municipal code to execute the repeal action.

Also, the commission will consider a permit application for  a new fitness center  with an existing building at 459 Soscol Ave.

According to a city staff summary:

"This facility would operate as a sales and preview location for a future In-Shape health club.

"The purpose of the preview center is to greet the public, recruit members, and introduce the In-Shape brand of fitness to Napa.

"This facility would allow new members to work out at this location, but is considered a temporary location until the new building is approved and completed."

Staff is recommending the permit be approved. The applicant is Sandra Stephenson of Stockton.
