Saint Helena Has The Most Expensive Housing In Napa Area According To Data
Home prices have climbed in Napa metro area by double digits in the past five years.
NAPA VALLEY, CA — A comparison of cities with the most expensive homes in the Napa metro area reveals the significant impact location can have even in a region known for being pricey.
The comparison by Stacker used data from Zillow to look at which town in the county is the most expensive to live in and how typical values changed between January 2018 and January 2025.
Saint Helena, where home values were above $1.5 million, ranked at the top.

But American Canyon prices climbed the most dramatically — 28.5 percent — over that period to $743,745 in January.
Housing costs in California have long been higher than the national average, according to state figures. California home prices have long been much more expensive than elsewhere in the country — about twice as expensive as the typical U.S. home, according to the California Legislative Analyst's Office.

The monthly cost for a Napa County homeowner is $5,140.
However, to put the Napa numbers in context, the monthly cost climbs to $8,358 in Santa Clara County.
