'Taste of Yountville' Packs in Almost 7,000 Under Sunny Skies

By all accounts, this year's 20th Annual "Taste of Yountville" was perhaps one of the most successful.

"It's fantastic," said David Marlowe of Rocklin. "It's California -- wine, food and art, what do you expect?"

Marlowe and wife Hiromi Marlowe were two of an estimated 7,000 to pack downtown Yountville during the five-hour event Saturday.

With sunny skies and a glass of wine in hand, people didn't seem to mind waiting in line. That was true for the line at Bouchon bakery, which stretched around the outside store and beyond.

"We're here for the macaroons," said Nelson Siu of San Francisco. Siu, accompanied by friends Lennifer Lee, Cory Mah and Jennifer Chow, said they had been to a Bouchon's in Las Vegas, but that this was the first time they had been in Yountville.

"It's great weather," Siu said.

Sarah Tipple, of Steven Restivo Event Services, said 4,600 commemorative wine glasses were sold along with tasting tickets. All the glasses were sold by about 3 p.m.

Tipple, whose company is contracted to run the event by the said there were 60 vendors, including 20 restaurants, 20 wineries and 20 other exhibitors.

Bands included The Deadlies and The Zins, among others.
