Wind Advisory Issued For North Bay

Hold onto your hat! High winds expected through Saturday in parts of Napa and Sonoma counties, weather service said.

NORTH BAY, CA – The National Weather Service in the San Francisco Bay Area this afternoon issued an advisory about gusty offshore winds over mountains in the North Bay on Saturday.

The winds are expected from the late morning, around 10 a.m., to the early part of the Saturday night and will be strongest over tall ridges and peaks in northern Sonoma and Napa counties.

Peak sustained winds of up to 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph are expected, the National Weather Service said. The strongest winds are anticipated during the late afternoon and evening out of the north to
northeast.

Relative humidity values will drop to the low teens and single digits Saturday leading to a slightly increased fire risk, the National Weather service said.

The wind advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday to midnight Saturday night, the National Weather Service said.

Impacts could include blowing debris making driving more difficult especially for high profile vehicles, downed power lines and increased fire danger, given the low humidity values.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is also reminding drivers to use extra caution during the wind advisory.
